In 1992, two scientists, Aleksander Wolszczan and Dale Frail, made an incredible discovery: they found the first confirmed exoplanets orbiting a pulsar (a rapidly spinning neutron star that emits radiation).
This was just the beginning. In 1995, Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz discovered the first exoplanet orbiting a star similar to our Sun. This planet, called 51 Pegasi b, is a gas giant like Jupiter, but much hotter.
